Cocoon Baby Sleeper by Phil and Ted’s
We have twins who were born abroad, and lived in a hotel the first month of their lives. They lived in these. The slept in them, they went outside in them, they went to the hotel restaurant in them. The twins are now 4 months, and we still use them. We’re home now, in Brooklyn. We don’t own a car, we walk a lot. Rather than lug out the big double stroller, we find it more handy to put the babies in these things to take them to the Pediatrician, or to day care. For strolls through the park we do use the stroller, the two times they’ve been in a car have been in a car seat, but for pure pedestrian transportation purposes, we usually opt for these. They are a thousand times easier on the subway than a stroller. When we flew to grandma’s house, these got us through the airport. They stow in the overhead bins nicely while the baby is in your lap on the plane. They are great because the babies can hang out in them, sleep, or just be content without having to be jostled around too much. They also really like the gentle swinging motion that comes when walking.
The babies are now 13 pounds, and they’re getting tall enough so that they stretch the entire length of the cot. I imagine we’ll only get another month, two tops, out of them, and I’ll be really sorry to see the cots retired. For those who are completely car / stroller based, I can see how these aren’t too useful. But I love them, and we’ve gotten hundreds of comments on them.
